What to Expect
Atmosphere »
Be who you are. No need to dress up. We accept all who come, just as they are. This is a gathering of friends, and the coffee's on us.
Music »
Music is the language of our emotions and a gateway to the soul. Styles will vary and blend to do what all good music should: stir our hearts. We use music as a backdrop for interaction with God. 'Response time' after the teaching allows opportunity to respond through song, prayer, and other elements of worship.
Thought Provoking Teaching »
We bring a mix of different teachers and methods. Overall, our teaching is intellectual, progressive, creative, and based on the teachings of Jesus as found in the Scriptures. Our teaching intentionally challenges and inspires students of Jesus to action in their everyday world.
Prayer »
Essentially, prayer is communicating with God. Some people pray all the time and others have never prayed before, but both are welcome. We can even help teach you some ways to pray. There will be times when we pray together, and times for you to pray on your own. You can also choose to have someone pray for you at any time.
Reverence & Reflection »
Sometimes we need time to process the things we have heard as it relates to our lives. It is good to allow space for asking ourselves tough questions. It is also important to rest in moments of awe as we witness glimpses of who God is.
Communion »
This is a practice instituted by Jesus himself. It is where bread and wine [or juice] is received representing the body and blood that Jesus sacrificed for our liberation. It serves as a reminder and declaration of our participation in the new kind of life Jesus offers.
Generosity »
Giving is an important element of worship because it moves our heart from an attitude of consumerism to one of philanthropy. We do not 'pass a plate' at our weekend services but do have designated places for people to make giving a regular part of their worship.
The Arts »
Designed in God's image, we all have a creative side. We strive to give expression to this creativity at our weekend gatherings. This could include any of the fine or multi-media arts represented by artists in our movement. Art is more than just for aesthetic enjoyment; it is an expression of worship.
