Catalyst Underground

Seven times this year, we invite you to participate in Catalyst Underground. These weekends are designed to get you into more relaxed environments, where we rest as an act of worship. At the moment, Undergrounds are where instead of meeting in a building for our Sunday gathering, we meet in homes all across Humboldt County. But we are dooing some brainstorming around expanding them to embrace individual experiences, especially in nature. We'll keep you posted as the ideas behind these experiments in rest and worship continue to develop...

How do I Participate?

Each one may be a little different. We'll let you know what to do a few weeks before each one.

Why Are We Doing This?

Top 5 Reasons

1. It Decentralizes us more. A value of ours is to be as much of a grass-rootsy movement as possible, and to avoid the easy drift towards being more and more 'institutional'.

2. It emphasizes the value we place on Life Groups and close relational connection over programmed larger gatherings.

3. It gives our hardworking Weekend Gatherings volunteers & staff a week off (of set-up/tear-down/music/production/kids/etc.), while creating opportunities for other types involvement.

4. It's alternative and fun! Good enough reason.

5. It puts us in solidarity with the many Christians around the world who have to meet in homes all the time. It is good to remember those in persecution as we voluntarily meet 'underground', while they have no choice.
