Moving beyond pop self-help to holistic transformation.

There is no shortage of sources telling us how to become whole, healthy and happy. As a matter of fact, google any of those terms and you'll be greeted with millions of suggestions. Or take a stroll through the self-help section of a local bookstore to discover a variety of "Solutions for Only $19.99!" So, where do we go from here?

James is the flagship epistle of social justice.

We will approach James section by section as we seek to understand the central claim of the book: "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of
God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." What does this mean exactly for how we are to conduct our lives as students of Jesus?

Dec 26-27: Wholeness vs Holiness

What does a churcy word like "holiness" actually mean, and does it really matter?

Explores: Church culture. God's expectations. People's expectations. Being alternative.

Teacher: Loren Collins

In this series we look at Jesus from the perspective of a handful of individuals who had smaller parts in the Biblical story. They may be 'extras', yet their unique circumstances cast Jesus in new light. This becomes a springboard to explore Jesus from our own perspectives, which are always shaped by our social location and personal experiences.

This teaching series explores the book of Ecclesiastes. The writer of the book repeatedly says life is 'meaningless', or in Hebrew 'hebel', meaning mist or vapor. He speaks often of life's transcience and fragility, and also of deep mysteries surrounding our human experience and the ultimate questions we face. We will take a look at these issues head on in this journey to understand one of the most controversial books in scripture.

Both services share identical teaching and music, and the same high quality hospitality and Kidtropolis kid's ministry. This represents a milestone for Catalyst, and a big step towards our long-term vision to be a church for all of Humboldt County, not just one (or two) cities.
