Provoke Change

To us, being a Catalyst is to be an agent of change in the model of Jesus. Our faith is not for our own personal enjoyment or fulfillment. Rather, our faith is our invitation into a global redemptive community striving to add beauty, reconciliation, and restoration to every corner of this broken planet. The Scriptures teach that as one 'body' we are each different yet essential parts; that we are each 'ministers'- and so we call that out in those among us, to live a life of compassionate action.

As we seek to love people because we see the image of God in each of them, we find ourselves loving and worshiping God in the most tangible way possible. To put it simply: Loving People is Loving God.

Four Ways to Serve:

I. TheCommon.org:

This online tool helps match people's needs with other people's abilities. It is a way to get you directly connected with others in the Catalyst community that you can serve, or that can serve you.

Register on TheCommon.

II. Life Group Service:

The primary way to serve is through a Life Group. Each group is challenged to do at least 3 Community Action projects each year. This is a true grass-roots movement. Many of these projects are open to the whole church to join.

Check out a Life Group.

III. Heart Humboldt:

Each year we host a big community service event to catalyze individuals and churches to have a vision for serving their communities.

See a slide show of Heart Humboldt 2009.

IV. Catalyst Service Fund:

You can donate or do a fundraiser for our Service Fund. It is managed by the Humboldt Area Foundation and is an endowment that perpetually invests in hands-on community service led by Life Groups.

See the Catalyst Service Fund page.
