Catalyst Service Fund

As a church, we have chosen to be ‘permanently un-permanent’- to be a mobile church that will never capital campaign for land or buildings, choosing instead to use those funds that would be for morgage and maintenance to catalyze Life Group led community action projects. So, we’ve created the Catalyst Service Fund, also affectionately known as the “un-building fund.”

Donate

The Catalyst Service Fund is managed by the Humboldt Area Foundation. It is an endowment fund that will create mini-grants ($100-$500) from the interest each year. The idea is that your gift will be added to the principle, and will increase the interest we can use every year ‘forever’ without the principle ever being spent. So, it should only get larger over the years, and will ensure that no matter what happens in the future, funding for Life Group led community action will always exist.

4 Convenient Ways To Donate:

  • During a Weekend Gathering put your gift in a Catalyst envelope and mark ‘Catalyst Service Fund’ on the envelope.
  • Mail a Check to HAF, 373 Indianola Road, Bayside, CA, 95524. Be sure to put ‘Catalyst Service Fund’ in the Memo line.
  • Call Donor Services staff at 707.442.2993, if you’d like to talk with someone at HAF about your donation.
  • Online - Use the form at this link to make your donation online. Be sure to click the bullet that reads, “To be added to a fund or program” and then enter “Catalyst Service Fund” in the box next to it.

You will receive a ‘thank you’ letter from HAF for your donation that can be used for tax deduction purposes.

Apply for a Mini-Grant

If you are interested in applying for money from the Catalyst Service Fund, there are a few expectations:

  • All of the mini-grants ($100-$500) will only be awarded to Life Groups in good standing with Catalyst Church.
  • Extra consideration is given to Life Group applicants who:
  1. will match the grant money with money donated from their group members
  2. plan to do hands-on volunteer service and the money will be used for supplies rather than cash donations
