Training to Launch, Assist, or Lead a Catalyst Life Group

Life Groups are the central ministry at Catalyst, and are what we do in place of all other types of typical church programming other than our Weekend Gatherings.

It is also where the people of Catalyst are pastored, not by 'professional clergy', but by gifted and compassionate individuals who choose to step up to this significant and important role.

We encourage everyone to get involved in a Life Group, and hope to eventually have thriving life groups in every town in Humboldt County.

Thus, we are always looking for people with the social skills and spiritual integrity to pastor a Life Group of their own...

Monday Nights, 6-9pm at The Catalyst Office

Cost: $5 per night (materials & snacks)

Open to:

     -anyone interested in leading or assistant-leading a Life Group

     -current leaders or asisstant leaders who want refresher training

Each session will be 3 hours of highly interactive discussion, not a lecture.

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Note: Completion of courses does not guarantee that you will become a Catalyst Life Group Leader, but it is a pre-requisite to becoming one.

1. January 18- Journey Together

Creating a Culture of Community

     -Understanding the central role Life Groups play at Catalyst and why

     -Honing a vision for your group and turning core values into an actionable calendar

     -Methods for helping the group connect and open up

     -Skills for inviting new people to grow your group without destroying your group dynamics

     -Pastoral care, listening, and crisis care

2. January 25- Live Different

Creating a Culture of Transformation

Co-Facilitated by Lary Nichols & Dan Davis

     -Facilitating a discussion

     -Worship, Prayer, Communion, & Baptism

     -Confronting effectively and compassionately, conflict resolution

     -Troubleshooting and resources for a stagnant or shrinking group

3. February 01- Provoke Change

Creating a Culture of Action

Co-Facilitated by Levi Mogg & Dan Davis

     -Why social justice is at the center of following Jesus

     -3 Annual Service Projects

     -Heart Humboldt

     -TheCommon.org

     -The Catalyst Service Fund
